The Culture Creatures

Situation: Joan Mechler and Jules Pivec wanted to start a comedy and culture podcast, but wanted to make a professional impression on their audience with fun visuals.

Task: I was tasked with creating a visual identity and brand for Culture Creatures that communicated Joan & Jules’ sense of humor. This included a logo, podcast cover, and various social media graphics for promotional purposes.

Design Approach:

  • Joan had an initial idea of creating a pair of little monsters to embody the personalities of her and Jules. I created a few initial options and we collaborated to find the right approach.

  • I went with a cute and silly style for the characters themselves, and created additional poses and expressions for the character for versatility and ease of future use.

  • The text of the logo is custom lettering, which makes the logo unique and adds depth. I chose a very whimsical and vibrant color palette to communicate the humor and fun of the podcast.

Conclusion: Jules and Joan were very excited by what I had created, and their presence on podcast platforms and social media made a splash once they were ready to launch. The graphics I had created were versatile and easy for them to use on their own once my part in the project had come to an end.
